“One World One Voice” is a project in which over 50 different musicians and bands from all over the world worked together.
The production was made by Rupert Hine in 1990. They include Afrika Bambaata, Laurie Anderson, Clannad, Johnny Clegg, Peter Gabriel, Bob Geldof, David Gilmour, Lou Reed, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Sting, Suzanne Vega and the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra.
The album consists of one produced as a “chain tape”, passed from studio to studio, from musician to musician or band around the world and artfully linked together afterwards.
The project was intended to show that music is a medium, a language that is “spoken” and understood across nations worldwide. The intention was also to draw attention to the increasing threat posed by escalating environmental change.
