Here is my new arrangement of Schubert’s Ständchen.
It is the first part of the Swan Song cycle.
I let the theme sink in and played this version.

Franz Schubert’s serenade (“Leise flehen meine Lieder”) is one of the composer’s best-known and most beautiful songs. It comes from the Schwanengesang cycle (D 957), which was composed in 1828, shortly before Schubert’s death. The setting is based on a poem by Ludwig Rellstab.
The song captivates with its longing, melancholy mood. The gentle, undulating piano accompaniment is reminiscent of a tender serenade, while the melody, full of devotion and quiet urgency, courts the love of the beloved. The alternation between delicate restraint and passionate intensity is particularly impressive, demonstrating Schubert’s masterful sense of musical expression.
Ständchen is a prime example of the Romantic art of song: it combines poetic depth with a melodic beauty that still captivates listeners today.
You will see that with my music you have a whole orchestra under your hands that can play very simple melodies as well as big arrangements. The piano will show you the way.
