I wrote “Song for Bad Days” on March 31, 2020, right at the start of the COVID-19 crisis.
Classes had been canceled, and everyone was at home. The atmosphere was pretty strange, so I sat down at the piano and played this melody. Variation after variation was added, so it ended up being quite long, but it captures the feeling that, despite this gloomy situation, you can still find something positive in the day. So it’s the melody for bad days, and I hope it helps you, too.
As is so often the case, the inspiration for this song comes from Johann Sebastian Bach, as is easy to recognize.
