When this album is released, I will have had my YouTube channel for exactly ten years on September 4, 2019.
In 2009, YouTube had nowhere near the enormous distribution it has now.
I had completed the work on my online piano school and my sheet music videos were an important part of this concept.
On YouTube, of course, these videos have a completely different effect; they not only provided support and monitoring of learning success, but many users began to play the piano after watching these videos. So after a short time I also started playing famous cover songs. And then, of course, I started writing my own pieces again. I had completely neglected this for years of studio and live work. This is actually how the video channel on YouTube came about.
What struck me right from the start was the lively communication between users about my music. This inspired me to continue composing my own titles and to publish videos with the sheet music so that every user can play the pieces themselves.
For me, the last decade has been an up and down of good and difficult times. There were great personal losses as well as incredibly beautiful moments that we had here making music.

So this album was also a journey into the past of the last 10 years and made me realize again what music actually is: music is a very special language that everyone really understands. There is no feeling that cannot be conveyed with music. It caresses the soul, moves you to tears, turns dreams into reality.
While playing, I realized again how it preserves memories for eternity, conquers fear, gives courage and strength. Music has helped me out of deep valleys at many points in my life and I can’t imagine life without it.
It is the center of our emotions with all its directions between joy and pain, boundless light-heartedness and thoughtfulness.
So all my songs arise either from emotional situations and moments or from memories of certain situations and moods and, above all, they are always improvised from the spontaneous moment. I rarely play a piece twice before I record it. That’s the only way it has the right expression for me.
So I hope you enjoy this album as much as I do, whether you just listen to it or play it yourself – “Darkness and Light” the album about the first decade…..
From this summer, all sheet music will now come with chord symbols and QR codes so that you can quickly check the piece on YouTube and also play along with someone who is not so note-proof!
